In their Oakland, CA headquarters they made a commitment: To only charge work phones with energy from the sun! How do they do that you ask?
When they moved their HQ from Berkeley to Oakland back in March 2011, they decided to move away from the traditional office desk phone set-up. Instead, all employees received iPhones. Through an application called RingCentral, their iPhones act exactly as normal office phones do; they can transfer calls, have extensions, and can even answer calls directed to a certain department. The freedom is awesome.
To take things a bit further, they decided as a team to use their Solio chargers to keep the new office phones juiced up! Each employee now has two Solio chargers, which rotate from charging in the sun, to charging phones at their desk. Over the past few months they really have got the system down, and all of their neighbors have gotten used to seeing all the Solio chargers soaking up the sun on a daily basis. It’s quite a sight!
